Essential functions of this position:

This position is an intermediate professional position in which the incumbent is expected to be able to operate comfortably with a minimum level of supervision and instruction as to the work to be performed. He/she is required to exercise judgment and have broad discretion as to work to be performed.

The position is responsible for providing a broad range of advice and assistance for leveraging and supervising other staff and volunteer resources. Assistance provided includes, but is not limited to providing business counseling and advice and teaching outreach seminars on feasibility assessment, business plan development, marketing advice, financial analysis, loan package preparation, personnel, accounting, human resources, purchasing, research, and development. The incumbent is expected to provide in-depth, confidential, individualized counseling and technical assistance to a sizable client group throughout the six county region served by the Southeastern Regional Center.

The incumbent is also responsible for assuming the management of a Regional Service Center in the absence of the Director, and in the assistance of supervising other professionals, graduate students, and clerical personnel, as directed by the Director. Through the incumbent and others supervised by him/her, the SBTDC’s counseling, research, training and technical assistance services are provided to small business owners, inventors and those planning to start a new business.

N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position:

Able to operate comfortably with a minimum level of supervision and instruction

Exercise judgment and have broad discretion

Preferred education, professional skills and experience:

Bachelor’s degree and seven years of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

The ideal candidate will have experience in small business management or small business lending
