Brief Description of Work for this Position

Seeking applications for a 30 hour per week temporary paid internship with the Seahawk Club division, UNCW Department of Athletics. UNCW holds Division I membership in the National Collegiate Athletic Association and Colonial Athletic Association. Teams are fielded for men in basketball, cross country, baseball, golf, soccer, tennis, swimming & diving, and outdoor track & field. Teams for women are fielded in basketball, cross country, softball, golf, soccer, tennis, swimming & diving, volleyball, beach volleyball, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field.

The Seahawk Club internship is designed to expose the individual to all aspects of DI college athletics, in particular those related to athletic fundraising and associated donor events. Reporting to the Associate Director of Development, this position will assist the full-time Seahawk Club staff in a variety of ways to help grow membership numbers and properly steward current members.

Primary Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Seahawk Club:

Assist in outbound membership solicitation via different prospect lists

Help with non-renewal calls/solicitations for 110% campaign

Field customer service questions/concerns with regards to membership and season tickets

Assist entire staff with setup and overall execution of various Seahawk Club events

Student Seahawk Club (Student Donor Society):

Discover, cultivate, and solicit new members for the Student Seahawk Club

Be an active presence on campus during orientations, student services fairs, and other promotional opportunities as they present themselves

Aid in the retention efforts of current Student Seahawk members

Manage membership table and various promotions during specified home contests

Assist the Associate Director of Development in the group’s marketing and solicitation efforts through various social media outlets

Help develop and execute new initiatives and ideas to increase membership

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Flexibility in schedule to include some evenings, weekends, and holidays

Ability to work with various groups within the Athletic Department and the University

Working knowledge of social media platforms and Microsoft Office Suite

Valid driver’s license
Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the position
Preferred formal education or training, professional skills and work experience
Work Hours Varies
Work Days Monday - Friday, occasional weekends for events
Hours Per Week 30 hours
