Brief Summary of Work for this Position:

Conducts STEM recreational activities for individual and group participation. As a guide, minimum education and experience include graduation from high school and prior experience leading recreational activities.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must meet one of the following criteria to qualify for the Engineering Expectations Summer Camp:
-Licensed teacher in the state of NC in math, science or technology
-Student studying engineering or computer science at an accredited university
-Exceptional high school student with experience with Science Olympiad or robotics


Must have strong oral communication skills to communicate effectively with campers, parents and staff.

Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the position

-CPR/First Aid Certification

This certification must be obtained by June 18, 2018, prior to start of employment.

Preferred formal education or training, professional skills and work experience

-Holding an engineering degree with experience doing outreach

-Previous experience teaching or coaching youth

-Knowledge of STEM, specifically engineering

-Participating in or coaching Science Olympiad

Work Hours Half-day positions: 8:00AM-12:30PM Monday - Friday; Full-day 8:00AM - 4:00PM Monday-Friday
Work Days Monday - Friday
Hours Per Week Half-Day Positions 20-25/hours week, Full-Day Positions 40/hours week

Recruitment Range $8 - $15/hour - (dependent on qualifications and specific position)

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
